Welcome to the YWAR LOUNGE! Each session will feature the creativity and talents our EMPOWERED young women.
This session's pick was inspired to write this masterpiece as a result of her completion of the YWAR program, which increased her knowledge of positive identity, self-esteem, and healthy relationships and sexuality!

Being a woman is a vulnerable thing. Let me explain, see in life we as women have been seen as the weakest link. We are below men in the eyes of the world. Society cannot accept how we are needed to create and nurture life. Sometimes our strengths is mistaken for a weakness. For example there was a woman in the street who was all beat up trying to get money by giving her beauty away to someone who wasn't worthy of it. Everyone thought she was stupid and crazy to do such a thing, but what nobody knew was that she had 5 mouths to feed and that she didn't know she was capable of more than showing off her body. She thought she didn't deserve better, because that was the way she was taught by a man that she love. See what the world didn't see was that she was insecure...insecure about herself and she had such low self-esteem, but I bet if she had learned what I have learned these past few months in YWAR, she would have had a better life. She would have seen that she had more going for her.
What I'm trying to say is that we as women don't have the right to judge or be judged but we do have the right to choose love and respect for ourselves. Remember a relationship is like ballroom dancing, your partner offers you the next step and the lead, but you have the choice to accept and follow the step.

I think this YWAR program is fantastic, I am from the YWCA of Greater Flint, MI and something like this would be great for the young women in our community. Great Job empowering women!
